Job Description

Lutron Electronics Co., Inc has an immediate opening for a Product Manager – Window Systems Fabrics.  In this position, you would be a key part of the Window Systems business team focused on our Commercial business and high-end and mid-market Residential segments.  A successful Product Manager will:

  1. Be the heart, mind, and voice of the customer across all relevant customer segments
  2. Facilitate cross-functional teamwork across the entire Window Systems business and Product Management team

Fabrics play a pivotal role in the success of all Window Systems products sold to all customers. In this position, you will be dedicated to defining and bringing great products to market, managing our existing product portfolio and providing an effective sampling program to all customers. You will be at the nexus of Sales, Engineering, Operations, and the market, to maximize the value, sales, and profit of product line. 

Responsibilities:

Overall responsibilities include:

  • Take full ownership for the sales growth strategy and profitability of our fabrics line

  • Drive the launch of fabric products into new channels and markets working in conjunction with the business and the Product Management team

  • Manage the existing product portfolio, sampling tools, and supplier relationships

     

Detailed Responsibilities include:

  • Gain a deep understanding of customer experience, identify and fill product gaps and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience and drive growth

  • Act as a fabric product expert and evangelist to build awareness and understanding

  • Manage sampling program offering including, sampling tools, fabric binders, website presence and work with Marketing/Product Management to execute creation of tools

  • Own supplier relationships at a sales, marketing and product management level.Drive regular meetings with suppliers to evaluate offerings, track sales results, manage issues and oversee supplier co-op usage

  • Work cross-functionally with business team, Engineering and Manufacturing to define quality standards and processes for target customer segments.

  • Work directly with Operations team to create forecasts, manage inventory, shape programs to deliver products to market quickly and with superior quality

  • Define and own product lifecycle processes, from product launch and introduction through to product discontinuation.Drive implementation of all processes across cross-functional team

  • Establish processes to manage custom requests and sales field requests

  • Training content and programs for existing product and new product launches (internal and external)

  • Competitive and market analysis (focused on product features and works closely with brand manager)

  • Product roadmaps and backlog prioritization

  • Planning for next year’s sales plans and engineering plans

  • Contiually monitors product portfolio (what's working, not working, why, and what are we doing about it)

  • Maintain relevant product content on Lutron.com, Serenashades.com and in the Performance Shading Advisor

  • Customer feedback collection (reviews, customer interviews, tech support, forums, sales call reports, interviews, etc.)

      Qualifications:

  • BS required, MBA preferred

  • Minimum 8 years work experience, product management preferred

  • Strong analytical skills required

  • Have a passion for understanding the customer experience

  • Enjoy working with a wide range of areas in the company (Operations, Engineering, Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, etc.)

  • A strong communicator that can influence and bridge many areas of the company 

  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • In depth knowledge of MS Office required; familiarity with IBM Cognos and Salesforce.com a plus

  • Willingness to travel 20% of the time, sometimes with little or no notice.
