Job Description

Lutron Electronics Co., Inc has an immediate opening for a General Accounting Manager.  In this position, you would be a key part of the accounting and finance team.  A successful General Accounting Manager will use their accounting expertise and management experience to develop the accounting capabilities of the accounting group and enable the organization to make accurate, timely fact-based decisions.

The General Accounting Manager is responsible for leading people, developing accounting policies and practices, driving compliance to accounting standards, preserving and enhancing internal controls, managing external accountants and auditors on both a consolidated and legal entity basis, developing and driving accounting policies and practices, overseeing the financial applications, and cultivating relationships across Lutron.


  • Lead Accounting Team

    • Evaluate performance against transparent KPI’s

    • Develop team members while providing opportunities for growth

    • Balance workload and provide prioritization of activities as needed.

    • Coach staff on routine & non-routine matters, problem solving, initiatives, etc…

  • Manage External Accounting and Audit Firms

    • Monthly / quarterly conference calls

    • Ensure information accuracy and efficiency

    • Timely completion of audits

    • Annual evaluation and engagement negotiations, where appropriate

  • Accounting Processes

    • Monthly close (lead the close process, meetings, checklists, results)

    • Monthly review – P&L and Balance Sheet (reconciliations)

    • Reviewing and approving journal entries and bank reconciliations

    • Lead accounting teams including accounting services (A/R, A/R, collections), consolidations, cost, general, inter-company, and legal entity

  • Drive innovation and continuous improvements

  • Identify and lead accounting projects

  • Serve as the global point of contact for all accounting topics

  • Travel to Lutron’s international manufacturing plants and sales offices

  • Support budget and forecast activities with strong analytical skills

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with other department leaders to support overall department goals and objectives

  • Align the accounting organization with Lutron’s culture and values


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or MBA

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance

  • Thorough knowledge of US GAAP

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word required

  • Ability to work effectively under strict deadlines

  • Knowledge of integrated financial systems / application (Oracle a plus)

  • Attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy and quality

  • Ability to travel 5-15% of the time as needed, sometimes with little notice
