Job Description


Lutron Electronics Co., Inc has an immediate opening for a Director of Compliance & Ethics.  The Director of Compliance & Ethics will have global responsibility for the implementation of compliance and ethics programs.  This role reports directly to the Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Compliance Officer. 


  • Strong academic achievement:
    • Bachelor’s degree from a highly regarded university
    • Law degree, or other relevant advanced degree, highly preferred
  • Extensive (10+ years) progressive experience in responding to or managing legal and regulatory issues, related government relations, or compliance programs
    • Law firms, government agencies, or corporate (manufacturing, industrial, or consumer products) legal, compliance, or HR departments preferred
  • Experience leading efforts to develop new compliance programs
  • Experience successfully managing a Compliance and Ethics program, building training and communication programs, and developing a culture of ethical business conduct
  • Ability to design and implement a global compliance structure
  • Previous international compliance experience a plus
  • Advanced professional compliance training and/or membership in a professional compliance organization a plus
  • Strong change management and project management skills
    • Motivated self-starter with the fortitude to successfully drive cultural changes
    • Ability to work under pressure and drive to meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities
    • Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing priorities
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of management while providing independent advice and direction
    • Ability to positively influence outcomes, particularly in sensitive matters
  • Experience leading teams.  Experience in a matrix-managed environment a plus
  • Highly developed personal moral and ethical standards to maintain confidentiality and provide leadership by example
  • Willingness to travel internationally


  • Build and manage a Compliance and Ethics program to promote and maintain an ethical business culture
  • Develop and manage compliance functions, program initiatives, and the overall budget
  • Develop and implement Compliance and Ethics training programs to align with company values, and policies and procedures, including the Code of Conduct
  • Manage the company’s reporting process and develop metrics to assure management is informed of concerns and/or incidents related to any company standards
  • Maintain, periodically review, and update the company’s Code of Conduct
  • Develop Compliance and Ethics communication strategy
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify priority risk areas
  • Partner with subject matter owners to develop policies and procedures and implement effective compliance and risk management programs
  • Benchmark best practices and identify metrics to measure the effectiveness of compliance programs
  • Provide reports on metrics and program progress to senior managers, Compliance Council, and Audit Committee of the Board of Directors
  • Chair a working committee of managers that drive global support of Compliance and Ethics programs throughout the company
  • Create an audit strategy that assures effective compliance programs
