Job Description

Lutron Electronics has an immediate opening for a Communications Project Specialist, Public Relations. 

 

In this position, you would be an integral part of the Communications organization and provide key coordination between business and marketing teams, public relations agencies and the communications organization supporting both residential and commercial business. You will coordinate across the company to help ensure public relations efforts are an active part of integrated communication campaigns, act as a key liaison with our outside public relations agencies, and track and report on results of our PR investments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the coordinator and facilitator for public relations efforts as a part of integrated communications campaigns
  • Drive tactical execution of Public Relations activities and events in coordination with business teams and agencies
    • Collaborate with product managers to identify press release-worthy news and talking points and draft the releases
    • Develop and maintain relationships with external PR agencies to ensure that news pertaining to Lutron is being shared with our targeted media lists
    • Serve as the liaison between the Public Relations and Social Media teams, leveraging opportunities and content and identifying influencer synergies
    • Assist in coordinating and hosting press events
    • Coordinate and support media and PR requests including:
      • Media requests for images, information and product
      • Media interviews and PR agency team meetings
      • Compilation of presentations and research for special PR projects
      • Coordinate with PR agencies to share content that can be leveraged with media, including updated fact sheets, executive bios, video content, literature, and speaking engagement abstracts

 

  • Facilitate communication and coordination between business specific Public Relations teams including agency engagement, campaign and product activities, reporting, etc. to ensure alignment and collaboration with residential, commercial and corporate efforts
  •  Oversee media monitoring in conjunction with PR agencies and support metrics reporting to the businesses
    • Analyze and audit agency self-reporting
    • Analyze Lutron coverage and reporting on trends; identify missed opportunities and new priority reporters
    • Communicate press coverage results with internal business stakeholders and with the Lutron salesforce, customers, and social media team
    • Compile monthly and quarterly activity and coverage​ reports
    • Manage media monitoring (using trendkite and other metrics tools)
      • Publish insights reports to communicate PR results, industry trends and competitive insights
      • Support both the agencies and internal business stakeholders with reporting
      • Review and audit agency scorecard reporting
  • Coordinate key Public Relations outreach opportunities
    • Co-manage select events, including planning and execution and working with the business leaders on key messages
    • Identify relevant speaking opportunities for Lutron subject matter experts, manage the submission process, and leverage content with the media
    • Identify award opportunities and work with stakeholders on the submission process
    • Manage list of the industry associations and facilitate the communications of newsworthy content for publications through those organizations in conjunction with our agencies

Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field

·       2-4 years of experience as a media relations or project lead in an agency with experience with building products manufacturers or resellers of building products

·       Strong understanding of the media, public relations and other communications channels

·       Experience pitching the media and writing for press releases is a plus

·       Highly organized; must be detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills and ability to multitask effectively

·       Strong project management skills and experience meeting aggressive timelines and managing budgets

·       Direct experience with Event Management and coordination of speaking engagements

·       Experience in multiple aspects of marketing programs–trade shows, training and sales programs, advertising literature, and event management

·       Demonstrated ability to interface constructively with clients, sales, marketing, and product development teams

·       Operates effectively in a fast paced, deadline driven environment

·       Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal. Must be able to communicate ideas to all levels of management and adapt style to audience

·       Strong computer skills (spreadsheets, databases and word processing); experience with project management software a plus

·       Up to 25% travel is required to interact with media at events, meetings and trade shows
